Damien Mallon: Graphic Design & Illustration

Here is my first page of observational drawings for the 'Belfast Pen' design project. After many weeks of thinking about ideas for this project, this final idea came to me whenn travelling to work one night. The latest building to adorn the Belfast sklyine, The Obel Tower has a very modern, cylindrical shape to it, which I thought could be adapted into a pen design. This image shows my initial observations of the building, both from memory, photos of it under construction, and some toon style versions of it. From here, I began to experiment with the actual layout for then pen size.
